About the Association
The association is serviced by an All-Volunteer staff, specialized in honey bees and beekeeping. Do you have time, skills, and/or experience and desire to serve? Know or learning about honey bees? Let us know!
NEKBA membership is open to anyone interested in bees or bee culture. Dues are $15 annually. Additional members of the family wanting voting privileges shall be assessed dues at $1.00 per year. Youth memberships (18 years of age and younger) are $7.50 per year. Memberships are submitted to the Treasurer.
The association is a not-for-profit IRC 501(c)5 agricultural-educational organization, run by dedicated volunteers, and supported by membership dues. The IRC status means that the association is a tax-exempt organization. While donations are always welcome, they are NOT tax deductible as charitable contributions. However, membership dues and subscriptions may be deductible as ordinary and necessary business or trade expenses. Please consult your tax advisor.
The Bee Buzzer, our monthly newsletter, is the official publication of the Northeastern Kansas Beekeepers' Association, Inc. (NEKBA) and is published monthly. Commercial ads are accepted in the newsletter for a fee, non-commercial ads by members are accepted free for charge.
The association library is free to all members. We have a large selection of related beekeeping books. The library is one of our biggest benefits. Books may be checked out at meetings and kept for a period of 30 days.
The honey bee trade publications, The American Bee Journal and Bee Culture can be subscribed directly via the links provide or through the Treasurer. As an association member, the ABJ is offered at a 25% discount.
The Association meets each month, generally, on the 3rd Monday at 7:00 p.m. except during the months of March, June, and August. Please visit our "Meeting Schedule" page for details.
A beekeeping class is held in March. This is a non profit organization; elected officers serve without pay. Everyone is invited to attend the meeting. Check "The Buzzer" each month for the actual date, time and location. If the weather is bad, call an officer to find out if the meeting will be held.
Thank you for your support of Kansas beekeeping.
